Scope of work

The Christchurch based Undergraduate Transportation Engineer will contribute to several projects where our experienced team is providing advice for clients around the South Island that are planning new developments across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, energy, recreation, and education activities.

  • A primary role will be contributing to the Integrated Transport Assessment of the activities:
  • collating and analysing supporting data related to the transport network including from reported road crash data, site visits and observations,
  • contributing to site design and access provision for various transport modes,
  • assessing transport related effects on transport network performance, including using intersection analysis models,
  • developing mitigation strategies to ensure development is integrated with the transport network,
  • contributing to draft report preparation.

The position would give the undergraduate an opportunity to gain some further understanding of how transport engineering is an important component of resource management planning.

In addition, an intern will have the opportunity to understand the breadth of the transportation engineering sector, through exposure to the transport activities being carried out by our wider team, including network transport models, business cases, safety assessments, detailed engineering design, and project implementation.

Who can apply

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be in your second or third year of study
  • Currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) or Bachelor or Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Diploma
  • Preferably have a full clean current driving licence
  • Able to commence work from mid-November 2023 to mid-February 2024 (Flexible)
