Scope of work

The Auckland modelling team is involved in wastewater, stormwater and water supply modelling projects in and around Auckland helping Watercare, Auckland Council. The projects include assisting with capacity/development assessment, master planning, growth studies, optioneering/solution modelling etc.

You will contribute/work in the following activities on a day-to-day basis assisting the wider modelling team:

• Performing data analysis and design calculations.
• Assisting with GIS analysis related to hydraulic modelling.
• Analysis of networks using modelling tools.
• Contribute to report preparations.
• Attend meetings/workshops.
• Communicate with other teams/disciplines as required.

The position would give the undergraduate an opportunity to gain knowledge of hydraulic modelling and understand its importance in asset management, water, and wastewater planning.

Additionally, the intern would get an opportunity to understand different aspects of New Zealand water industry through exposure to a variety of activities carried out by our wider team.

Who can apply

To be eligible to apply you must:

• Be in your second or third year of study
• Currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) or Bachelor or Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Diploma or Mathematics, Statistics and modelling.
• Preferably have a full clean current driving licence
• Able to commence work from mid-November 2024 to mid-February 2025 (Flexible)
