What do our Survey and Spatial Technicians do? 

Our Survey and Spatial Technicians work on a diverse range of projects, including topographical surveys, cadastral surveys, construction set out surveys and even drone surveys! You will be assisting the survey team with the execution of survey projects including field tasks and office processes such as 12D and AutoCAD to deliver successful outcomes to Survey projects. 

Our Petone office has beautiful, uninterrupted views across Wellington Harbour from Matiu/Somes Island to the Miramar Peninsula connecting us visually to the communities in which we work—reminding us daily of the impact our projects have on the local environment.  

Your day-to-day tasks will include: 

  • Assist surveyors to ensure work is completed on time to a high standard. 
  • Execute field surveys using GPS/GNSS, total station and other survey equipment as required. 
  • Prepare drawings in AutoCAD or 12D. 
  • Assist with set up, pack down and operating of all survey equipment. 
  • Ensure maintenance and protection of all survey and ancillary equipment. 
  • Perform quality checks and provide feedback and corrective/preventative action. 
  • Communicate to the public and/or clients in a mature and professional manner. 

Note: This position does not offer work from home opportunities. This role involves both office and field work. 

What you will bring 

You’ll be as committed as we are to improving the communities, we live in. We’re seeking individuals who thrive on thinking outside the box. Your ability to come up with fresh ideas and contribute to practical design solutions will be invaluable.  

  • A tertiary qualification is beneficial but not mandatory as full training will be provided. 
  • Some experience or exposure in the field is advantageous. 
  • Exposure to software such as 12D of AutoCAD or a strong interest in learning to a high degree of proficiency. 
  • Drive and passion to develop skills in surveying. 
  • Adept at working within a team environment coupled with a positive and proactive approach. 
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills. 

Physical Requirements: This role includes both office and fieldwork so you must be physically able to stand and work in the field including remote areas. 

To be eligible to apply you must: 

  • Be a recent graduate or due to complete your studies in 2024. 
  • Have a full clean current driving licence. 
  • Working Rights: Student Visa (convertible to post study open work visa), Permanent Resident, Citizen.
