Your role

In the role of a Technical Sales Intern at IBM, individuals collaborate with either the Automation or Data & AI (Watsonx) sales teams, providing guidance to potential clients regarding the advantages of IBM's solutions. The position entails developing skills to execute initiatives and working closely with colleagues in the broader Sales team to assist in client engagements throughout the sales process. A key aspect of success in this role is fueled by curiosity and a continual pursuit of knowledge.

Responsibilities of a Technical Sales Intern could include:

  • Work alongside Sales professionals and technical subject matter experts to build proposals, manage projects, and bring value to clients
  • Support internal IBM teams on business analysis activities, marketing initiatives, and building and implementing programs
  • Work in squads with subject matter experts, using Agile methodology to complete projects in sprints
  • Collaborate with the broader IBM Sales Ecosystem and IBM Business Partners

Duration: 6 months, full-time based in their Auckland office.

About you

To be eligible to apply, Intern applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • You are a New Zealand or Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident.
  • You are in your final year of study, completing a technical degree (i.e., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems) at a New Zealand or Australian University. You will be enrolled in the University for the duration of your internship.
  • You will have strong communication and presentation skills, that are equally engaging, compelling, and influential.
  • You are able to work a minimum of 4 days a week (Monday to Friday).

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • You have a genuine interest or experience, in the Automation or AI software industries
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently, or as part of a team
  • Comfortable using Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
  • Technical knowledge or Sales experience
